TThomas, Cora Alice Prater Goodknight, age 83, of Camden, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. She was born in Winchester, Ohio on March 14, 1933 to parents, Walter C. Prater and Bessie Marie McGuire Prater. Cora attended Wayne School, Jacksonburg, Ohio until the 10th grade. She loved the school and made many lifelong friends. Cora came from a farm family and began working at an early age. Cora began working as a teenager at Elite Restaurant, Manchester Hotel, Garden Manor in Middletown. She worked at rest homes and hospitals in Dayton, Ohio and Pinellas Park, Florida. She worked for UniFirst Uniforms in Franklin, Ohio and Ocala, Florida retiring from UniFirst in 1998 after 14 years. Cora married Everett E. Goodknight in 1951, enjoying 20 years of marriage. Cora married Paul Robert (Bob) Thomas in 1976, enjoying 10 years of marriage. Cora was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Gratis, Ohio. She loved traveling to the Holy Lands, Israel, Cario, Rome, Hawaii, the Philippines, Bad Lands of South Dakota, Mt. Rushmore, Wisconsin Dells and Ireland, the home of her grandparents. She was a seamstress. She loved crocheting, knitting and working puzzles. She loved movies, especially cowboys. She had a great love for flowers and gardening. Cora loved to talk and brought much humor to the family. Cora is survived by her daughters, Patricia Goodknight and Karen Osborne and son, David (Diane) Goodknight; brothers, Robert, James and Paul Prater; sisters, Etta Bratcher, Betty Johnson, Virginia (Dale) Hoffman and Sylvia Love; grandchildren, Jason Goodknight, Orson Morin, Michael Brewer, Tammy Russell, Jennifer Wilburn-Dawson, Jeffrey Wilburn, Keith Osborne, Corcia Gordon and Joshua Goodknight; great-grandchildren, Caitland Allen, Courtney Morin, Anthony Morin, Arian, Jessica, Donovan Murphy, Will and Ian Dawson, Tommy and Everett Gordon; great-great-grandchildren, Benjamin Blake and Zuriah Xhane. We loved you grandma. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett and Bob; daughter, Deborah Wilburn; son-in-law, Charles Osborne; brothers, Walter Jr. and Harold. The family would like to thank her doctors Dr. James Thomson, Dr. Robert Cucinotta and Dr. Faisal Adhami and the staff and nurses at McCullough Hyde for their excellent care and support. Visitation services will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church 7085 Gratis - Jacksonburg Road, Gratis, Ohio 45330 on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 12:00 pm at the church with Pastor Wayne Pendleton officiating. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
